Biology students from the Department of Biological and Physical Sciences at the American University in Dubai visited the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) as part of their Plant Physiology course, taught by Dr. Lara Khouzami.

The field trip provided a unique, hands-on opportunity for students to explore the intersection of plant science, sustainable agriculture, and innovative biosaline solutions. During the visit, they toured ICBA’s advanced research facilities, interacted with experts, and learned about cutting-edge approaches to agriculture in arid environments.

A key highlight was a guided tour of the Soil Museum, one of only a few of its kind in the world, where students examined diverse soil types and discovered their ecological and agricultural significance.

Designed to bridge classroom theory with real-world practice, the experience also broadened the students’ awareness of global challenges and sustainable solutions.

Experiences like this, facilitated by the ICBA team, not only enhance student learning but also inspire a passion for scientific discovery, preparing the next generation of innovators and problem solvers.
