DEPARTMENT MISSION
To prepare a culturally diverse student body for successful professional careers grounded in strong engineering knowledge, a culture of innovation, and an awareness of the global societal, economic, and environmental contexts within which computer engineering and technology decisions are made.
The computer engineering undergraduate program bridges the gap between electrical engineering and computer science, with a curriculum that focuses on hardware-software integration, while preparing students for successful professional careers in areas such as computer hardware design, database engineering, and computer network security.
Designed to ensure excellence in the rapidly-evolving field of computer engineering, we emphasize the role of general education, ethical and social responsibility, in addition to life-long learning in the personal and professional growth of future computer engineers.

The 137 credit-hours program will include 15-18 hours of computer engineering electives where students will be exposed to a wide variety of areas such as wireless communications, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, data network security, software engineering, mobile applications, and computer architecture.
The program culminates into a mandatory field experience and an interdisciplinary capstone design project. Since the introduction of a third year industry placement, our students have had a unique opportunity to work in some landmark projects in Dubai, the UAE, and worldwide.
Program Details
The Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (B.S.Comp.E) degree is a four-year program consisting of 137 hours of required credit.
Core subjects are split into Mathematics/Natural Sciences, Arts and Sciences, and Computer Engineering.
There are also 12-15 credit hours of computer engineering electives, where students can choose from courses including Advanced Computer Architecture, Digital Image Processing, Relational Databases, Mobile Applications, and Data and Network Security.

- Identify, formulate, and solve complex computer engineering and technology problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
- Apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
- Communicate effectively with a range of audiences, through oral, written, graphic, and electronic channel.
- Make informed engineering decisions, guided by ethical and professional responsibility, and considering the global impact of engineering solutions on the economy, environment, and society.
- Function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
- Develop and conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.

ENTERPRISE COMPUTING LAB
Dedicated general purpose computer labs, each equipped with:
- 25-30 PCs and projector;
- High-speed internet network;
- Software includes MATLAB, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MathCAD, Primavera, Etabs, SAP, Pspice.
ADMISSIONS ENTRY
All applying students must have:
- A high school/secondary school certificate or equivalent from an institution accredited by the Ministry of Education in the U.A.E. or by the relevant national or regional institutional accrediting body;
- International TOEFL® or Academic IELTSTM or the equivalent score on another internationally-recognized English exam. PBT is accepted from specific centers in the UAE.
- The University administers the ACCUPLACERTM Exam (Math) to place students at the appropriate mathematics level.

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the General Criteria and Program Criteria for Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunication(s) and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
