The Biology VR Lab at the American University in Dubai (AUD) is the region’s first immersive virtual reality lab for undergraduate biology students. Launched in collaboration with AUD’s Center for Research, Innovation, and Design (CRID), this lab integrates AI-powered VR simulations with hands-on learning. Students explore detailed 3D models of the human body, cellular structures, and dynamic biological processes, gaining insights beyond the scope of traditional labs. In this advanced educational environment, students can interact with virtual patients, observe symptoms, diagnose conditions, and prescribe treatments in realistic clinical scenarios.

At AUD, undergraduate biology students engage in impactful research early in their academic journey. Starting as early as their sophomore year, students co-author articles in prestigious, Scopus-indexed journals, often in collaboration with leading global institutions. Their contributions, spanning health and biological sciences, showcase the department's dedication to advancing science. At the IFCC World Lab 2024, a prestigious global conference hosted in Dubai under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, with participants from over 55 countries, the AUD Biology team was honored with the poster and research award.
