Dr Amirhossein Heravi is an Associate Professor of Construction Management and Program Director of the Master of Science in Construction Management (MSCM) at the American University in Dubai. He brings over a decade of academic leadership and industry experience in construction and project management across Australia and the Middle East.
Prior to joining AUD, Dr Heravi held senior academic and leadership roles at the University of Southern Queensland, where he led the faculty outreach and engagement portfolio, directed the construction programs, secured international accreditations from professional bodies such as the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), and established strong industry advisory networks.
Dr Heravi also brings substantial industry experience to his academic role. He has worked as a Project Manager on residential, commercial, and infrastructure developments, overseeing project planning, cost control, stakeholder coordination, and quality management, advising on project feasibility, procurement strategies, risk mitigation, and delivery optimization. This industry foundation informs his practice-oriented teaching and applied research approach.
Achievement highlights
Over the last 6 years, Dr Heravi has secured two competitive research funding, successfully supervised and graduated HDR research students, including 8 PhD and 3 Masters, chaired accreditation panels, and actively collaborates with industry partners to ensure academic programs remain aligned with global professional standards and emerging market demands.
He has also received multiple awards, including the best paper award from MDPI, the Recognized Reviewer award from IJPM Elsevier, and the leadership and advocacy award from the 35th World Education Summit in Dubai.
