Dr. Afaf Tabach is an academic, consultant, and entrepreneur with over 23 years of experience in higher education and industry. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems at the American University in Dubai (AUD), where she contributes to the School of Business, leveraging her extensive expertise in computer science, management of information systems, and statistics.
Her academic journey started at the American University of Beirut (AUB), where she taught different courses in computer programming and data structures. She has also worked as an educational consultant for universities across the region through AUB’s Regional External Programs, supporting institutional development and academic excellence.
After completing her PhD in Canada, she relocated to Dubai and has been an Assistant Professor since August 2013, teaching courses in Python, Project Management, Management Information Systems (MIS), and statistics.
In the private sector, she brings a strong technical and managerial background. She began her career as a software engineer at an international telecom company and later served as an IT Risk Audit Manager at Deloitte, where she led critical assessments and advised on digital risk mitigation strategies.
Currently, Dr. Tabach is also the Founder and CEO of Akrim, a fintech startup headquartered in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). Her work at Akrim focuses on leveraging digital innovation to transform tipping and micropayment systems in the service industry.
Dr. Tabach adopts an interdisciplinary approach to education, technology, and leadership. She is committed to fostering innovation, empowering learners, and bridging the gap between academia and industry.
She has different peer-reviewed publications in the field of IT governance, community-based research, and fintech startups.
Her current research interests include entrepreneurship and artificial intelligence.
