Dr. Haitham Solh has been working in the field of education for more than 25 years. He holds a Masters’ Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Southern Mississippi (2002) and a PhD in Mathematics Education (with a minor in Mathematics) from Louisiana State University (2009). He has been working as a full-time professor of Mathematics at the American University in Dubai for the past 16 years. Dr. Solh is the proud recipient of many teaching accolades, including the President’s Award for Teaching Excellence (2021) and the Mathematics Division Award for Excellence in Teaching (2020). Dr. Solh's research focuses on enhancing students' conceptual understanding, as well as the effective use of technology in Mathematics Education. He has published a book, as well as a number of journal articles and conference proceedings. He has presented his work at Mathematics Education conferences worldwide, including the International Congress in Mathematics Education (ICME-13) in 2016 (Hamburg), the Asian Technology Conference in Mathematics in 2018 (Indonesia), and most recently and ICME-15 in 2024 (Sydney) and the Fourth International Conference on Mathematics and Statistics (Sharjah) in 2025.
In addition to his teaching and research, Dr. Solh is a fitness enthusiast, a marathon runner, and an advocate for a healthy lifestyle in his community, promoting healthy eating and regular exercise habits.
