Dr. Nezar Andary is filmmaker, scholar, and film curator. Educated at Columbia and UCLA, Andary believes in fusing practice and theory and relishes mentoring and creative projects. His award winning film, Unlocking Doors of Cinema (2020) screened in over 20 festivals. Until 2020, he taught literature and humanities at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi where he was a Dean of Research and Outreach. Recently, curated the film program Oasis (Paradox) for 2022 as the artistic director of the Al Sidr Environmental Film Festival. For the House of Wisdom, he runs the Book Season that creates book clubs, and workshops on literary topics. He is widely published and currently co-edits a books series for Palgrave entitled Focus on Arab Cinema where he wrote two books. He directed and produced a documentary theatre play, entitled Memories of Childhood (2017). Also, he has been creative executive and head mentor for Arab Film Studio documentary program helping producing over 20 short films. Currently, he is writing two film projects entitled No Barking and The Guilt Project.
