AUD Walks for Education

The Dubai Cares annual Walk for Education.

Feb 17, 2017

The AUD Community joined 14,500 members of the UAE community for the 8th annual Walk for Education, organized by Dubai Cares, part of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, to walk in solidarity with millions of children around the world who have limited or no access to education.

AUD staff and faculty members joined the walk with their families to represent the university in this large-scale community event, as they were encouraged to act as ambassadors for the university through community engagement and social responsibility, to support the major mission of the university – providing quality education to all.

“AUD believes that education is a key essential to lifetime success, which is why we encouraged our employees to participate in this exciting community event. We are pleased that so many members of the AUD community have volunteered their time to demonstrate their solidarity with the millions of children in developing countries who walk long distances on a daily basis to go to school,” commented Ms. Angele El Khoury, Director of Human Resources at AUD.

This year’s Walk for Education is in line with the UAE’s 2017 ‘Year of Giving’, as decreed by President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which aims to foster and strengthen a sense of community engagement and develop the spirit of volunteering and serving the nation by involving all members of the community.
