The American University in Dubai recently launched a new podcast series, entitled Digital Media & Tech in Dubai, (DMT/d). The podcast focuses on bringing listeners topical segments and informative conversations with local experts, exploring the latest news and developments in the digital media and tech scene, in the burgeoning international capital that is Dubai, as well as the greater Middle East area.
 
Hosted by Dr. Spencer Striker, Assistant Professor of Digital Media at AUD, the episodes will be bi-weekly and recorded live on campus, in the heart of Dubai’s Media City. Guests and speakers will talk about industry trends as well as their personal work and careers.
 
“Currently there are no existing podcasts in the iTunes store that cover the Dubai digital media/tech scene making this series a very welcome source of local information and opinion,” comments Dr. Striker.
 
Dr. Striker recently undertook the recording of the first episode welcoming special guests Maha Abouelenein, former Head of Communications - Google MENA, and Andrew Staples, Chief Business Reporter for Gulf News.
 
“Our first episode proved to be fantastic and insightful – brimming with insider, expert knowledge of the Dubai tech scene. There’s a lot of exciting innovation occurring in the digital vertical in Dubai - and many very talented, energetic people in the space – and this podcast will provide a forum for us to explore digital Dubai’s latest developments with the folks who are truly plugged in,” continued Dr. Striker. 
 
The studio is open to an audience and students are especially encouraged to attend the podcasts to learn more from external guests and to actively participate by asking questions on air.
 
The first episode is currently live on iTunes, and the second episode with guest speaker Joe Akkawi, Managing Partner of Paz Marketing, will be added soon.
