This year saw the formation of the Animal Aid Association - a new AUD Student Club. In a planned secret launch, members who had signed up to the club came together to address serious animal rights issues in a theatrical public display.
 
Club members took over the common outdoor area at AUD to demonstrate the everyday atrocities inflicted on animals in order to educate the student body on how some consumer brands they may use every day affect animals through unsafe testing in ways they may not have been aware of. There was also a demonstration of the cruelties of poor zoo conditions for animals in captivity.
 
Students sat inside makeshift cages and shelters and mimicked the behavioral effect of these conditions on animals. The event had a profound impact on passersby with many stopping to interact with the club.
