Professor Michael Rice has been selected as a finalist in the Korean International Ceramic Biennale (KICB) 2019. The event will be held from November 29, 2019 to March 29, 2020 in Gyeonggi-do Province, which is at the heart of the Korean ceramics industry and culture. It is a review of the current status of ceramic arts across the world and highlights issues of ceramic culture. The KICB has been defining the current status of international ceramic arts and generating discourses with diverse artistic experiments, by exploring the future direction of ceramic arts.

Established in 2001, the KICB has solidified itself as one of the major events transcending locality in Korea. With ceramists gathering in Korea from around the world and world-renowned ceramic ware presented in Gyeonggi-do Province, the Biennale is a true ceramic arts festival where all ceramic artists from more than 70 countries across the world gather is held every odd year. For the past 20 years, the Biennale has been playing a crucial role in shedding light on the value of Korean ceramics and establishing Korea as the center of world ceramics.
