A Cooperation Agreement Between the American University in Dubai and Huawei Technologies

Establishing an Academy to Train Students on Communication Technologies and Artificial Intelligence

The American University in Dubai (AUD) signed, as part of the GITEX Global 2021 exhibition, a cooperation agreement with Huawei Technologies, the world leader in providing information and communications technology infrastructure and smart devices, to establish an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) academy on the University campus. The academy will provide AUD with the latest technologies in communication, artificial intelligence, and information security with the goal of enhancing students’ capabilities in these fields and preparing them for a career that aligns with the needs of the UAE and the Gulf region.

The collaboration supports the UAE government’s goal in developing the nation into a leader in technological innovations and keeping it at the forefront of new research trends. Under the agreement, AUD will cooperate with Huawei Technologies to provide advanced training courses, through the information and network program approved by Huawei for academic staff and students, in addition to providing the company’s global experience that will prepare a future generation capable of leading the digital transformation process in the country.

Agreement Signing

The agreement was signed by Dr. David A. Schmidt, President of AUD and Mr. Spice Lee, Vice President of Huawei Technologies in the Middle East.

Dr. Schmidt is proud of AUD’s further strengthening of relations with a global company such as Huawei and their expertise in the field of Communications and Artificial Intelligence. He also stressed the importance of the agreement for AUD students, especially those studying in the School of Engineering with a specialization in Electrical, Computer and Information Sciences, which achieves the goal of the university's motto "The Learning Never Stops."
