From Reality to Digital: 3D Scanning and Digital Reconstruction of AUD Campus

Explore the process of transforming the physical campus of the American University in Dubai (AUD) into a detailed three-dimensional digital environment using contemporary scanning and reconstruction technologies.

This lecture presents an ongoing project to digitally capture and reconstruct the AUD campus through drone-based aerial scanning, photogrammetry, and other available 3D scanning technologies.

It explores the complete workflow, from planning and collecting spatial data to generating point clouds, reconstructing 3D geometry and refining, cleaning, and optimizing digital models

Through this real-world application, participants will gain insight into the opportunities and challenges of translating physical Architecture into accurate digital environments.

The lecture highlights how these technologies can support architectural documentation, visualization, immersive experiences, and the development of digital twins, opening new possibilities for the future of architectural design, research, and education.
