We are excited to invite you to participate in the first edition of the Undergraduate STEM Research Competition at the American University in Dubai (AUD), organized by the Department of Biological and Physical Sciences in the School of Arts and Sciences. This competition invites undergraduate students from across the UAE to participate, providing them with a platform to present their research in cutting-edge STEM fields, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and connect with peers, faculty, and industry experts.

 

Competition Details

Date: Wednesday, April 16, 2025
Time: 9:00 am - 12:30 pm
Venue: American University in Dubai

Who Can Participate?

  • Participants must be undergraduate students.
  • Participants must submit their research title and a 300-word abstract by the registration deadline.
  • Research projects must align with one of the three competition themes.
  • Projects can be either theoretical or practical.
  • A maximum of four students per group is allowed.
  • Research must be either ongoing or published within the last year.
  • Each student or group is limited to one research project.

Competition Themes

Health & Wellbeing

health Research focused on medical sciences, public health, biotechnology, and other topics contributing to improving human health and quality of life.


Biological & Physical Sciences for Technological Innovation

This theme explores how advancements in biological and physical sciences, including biotechnology, biomedical engineering, and AI applications are driving technological innovation across various sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, environmental science, and aerospace. It also highlights the integration of AI in STEM education, focusing on how AI-powered tools enhance learning in the biological and physical sciences.

Forensics and the Environment

This theme invites projects exploring three distinct areas: forensic science, environmental science, and their intersection. It includes research on the use of forensic methods in criminal investigations, such as crime scene analysis and DNA profiling. It also covers environmental topics like pollution, climate change, and conservation. Additionally, projects can focus on the intersection of these fields, examining how forensic techniques can be applied to address environmental crimes, including illegal waste disposal and other threats to ecosystems.

How to Participate?

  • Submit your research title and a 300-word abstract by the registration deadline.
  • Shortlisted participants will present their research in a poster presentation.
  • Posters will be evaluated by a jury of academic and industry experts.

Awards & Recognition

The top three winners will be awarded prizes and certificates in recognition of their outstanding research achievements!
