Launch of AUD's Literary Journal

Indelible

Mar 19, 2019

We are pleased to announce that our literary journal, Indelible, is now up and running. The journal is an AUD publication founded and managed by Dr. Roula Maria Dib (editor-in-chief)  and edited by Dr. Omar Sabbagh (associate editor). Indelible accepts submissions from AUD faculty and students, but also reaches out to a broader community of writers, both established and emerging, local and international, and seeks to publish works from distinguished writers and artists with strong voices and literary/artistic convictions that represent diverse interests and aesthetic styles. The first issue (March 2019) presents a rich, handpicked collection of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, reviews, interviews, op-eds, and art from students, faculty members, renown writers, and famous artists (international highlights include bestselling author Dr. Christine Mangan and  editor of art journal Ekphrastic Review Lorette Luzajic).

Indelible emerges at a time coinciding with Dubai’s Month of Reading, and during an exciting period for the region, which is just a few months shy of the long-awaited Expo 2020. With the Expo’s theme of “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”, and sub-themes of Opportunity, Mobility, and Sustainability in mind, Indelible, in its current shape and form, is proud to take part in embodying these concepts: the opportunity for creatives to publish, gain acknowledgement, be seen, and cross paths with other like-minded talents who are also attempting to reach out to a broader literary and artistic global community. This brings us to the next Expo subtheme, that of Mobility—the agility of the written word, thought, and expression that will be able to travel across the world via this platform. The platform, an electronic literary magazine, also tends to focus on Sustainability—in its environment-friendly paperless form, not only sustaining trees, but also supporting the indelible quality of the written word that remains and prevails.
