Najah El Jaroudi, a student of architecture in the American university in Dubai, and a member of the AIAS team (the American institution of Architecture Students), has excelled in combining her education with her deep passion for fashion design. She has worked on the concept of combining architecture and fashion to form cultural dresses; Abayahs. Najah has started her own fashion line, SITRA, selling out architecturally inspired wearable abayahs.
On November 5th, she had an interview on MBC on Sabah el Kheir ya Arab, where she explained her own perspective and insight about fashion, and how architecture influence and affects her ordinary Abayah designs. Najah managed to translate architectural elements and forms introducing them into the cultural dress. SITRA targets a style that reiterates abayahs in an architectural manner. This brand objectifies the importance of architectural movements towards fashion and art. Hence, each collection is initially dedicated to a certain architectural movement, and each abayah is inspired by a different architectural detail.
