AUD Professor of Health and Life Sciences, Dr. Meis Moukayed, participated as a Panelist Speaker at the Water Security Workshop alongside distinguished fellow researchers from the UAE Universities Climate Network as part of the UAE Pavilion Programme at the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP29 in Baku Azerbaijan. The workshop, which took place on the 19 November 2024, was skillfully chaired by Professor Sam Mao, Co-Chair of the Universities Climate Network, Professor of Practice and Director of ASPIRE Research Institute for Sustainability, Khalifa University, and included panelist speakers Dr. Shadi Hasan, Associate Professor of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering and Center Director for Center for Membranes and Advanced Water Technologies at Khalifa University, Dr. Charilaos Mertzanis, Professor of Finance at Abu Dhabi University, and Ms. Alice Ho, Chief Youth Officer at Global Alliance of Universities on Climate, alongside Dr. Meis Moukayed. The Panelists discussed many key issues related to water security, its critical role in sustainable agriculture and food security, and the need for innovative technological solutions and the use of IoT, sustainable finance, and most importantly the empowerment of our promising future youth in achieving the sustainable development goals.
