The American University in Dubai convened some of the region’s most promising engineering talent at the Ruya AI Hackathon, a one-day competition that attracted nearly 200 applicants from across the UAE, including AUD students, to tackle one of artificial intelligence’s most advanced frontiers: self-improving agents.
Organized by Ruya AI in partnership with the U.S. Mission to the UAE and AUD, the hackathon challenged participants to develop AI systems capable of autonomously evaluating performance, identifying weaknesses, and closing capability gaps without human intervention or retraining. Moving beyond conventional static AI models, these self-improving agents represent a significant leap toward the next generation of intelligent systems.
