Areig Abdelmaguid, an architecture graduate of the American University in Dubai (AUD), received second place in the University Innovation category at GeoHub Annual Day, organized by Dubai Municipality. The recognition was for a project she developed during her studies at AUD.
Ms. Abdelmaguid completed the project as part of her Geographic Information Systems course under the guidance of Dr. Hadeel El Naggar, Assistant Professor of Architecture.

Dr. El Naggar also represented AUD as a panelist in a discussion on academia’s role in empowering youth and preparing them to contribute to their communities. She highlighted the importance of connecting education with government, industry, business, and the wider community.

The event brought together university students, school students, and participants from the Rashid Center for People of Determination to explore geospatial technologies and share ideas addressing community needs.
