The American University in Dubai (AUD) has received a Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) grant for its project, Smart NanoCare – Molecular Communication and Digital Twin Integration for Medical IoT.
The project is led by Dr. Wael Bazzi, Dean of the School of Engineering at AUD, as Principal Investigator. Dr. Gwanggil Jeon from Incheon National University (South Korea) serves as Co-Principal Investigator, with Dr. Shahid Mumtaz from Nottingham Trent University (UK) contributing as a key collaborator.
Smart NanoCare focuses on developing next-generation molecular communication systems that enable nanoscale medical devices to communicate within the human body. By combining molecular nanonetworks with digital twin technology, the project aims to support smart healthcare systems, offering real-time, personalized health monitoring and energy-efficient, biocompatible treatment solutions.
This award is part of the first international co-funded RDI Grant Program, launched jointly by the Dubai Future Foundation and the National Research Foundation of Korea, highlighting international collaboration in digital health research.
