Prior to joining AUD, Sunny was a professional in the field of education and human development for 4 years. Her teaching experience began in 2007 in Egypt, where she started as a volunteer English teacher for refugees through the American University in Cairo. She then spent two years managing the daily operations of an English Language Program for young learners. Also during that time, she worked for an NGO in Cairo, where she managed the Development and Public Relations department. Her work included engaging with international organizations and local government bodies in order to secure funds and form strategic partnerships.
Upon moving to Dubai in 2010, Sunny moved into teaching English at the secondary education level. In addition to her teaching duties, she spearheaded the development of a college preparation program for seniors, in which she developed workshops and provided individual counseling to students wishing to pursue a higher education.
Sunny will begin her M.Sc. in Applied Psychology in Fall 2012. Her goal is to build upon her previous experience in education and enrich her personal understanding of how the human psyche impacts individuals’ personal and professional development so that she can empower others turn their obstacles into opportunities for growth.
Her non-academic interests include gardening, outdoor activities, classical music, reading and writing, learning about ancient civilizations and holistic philosophy, and staying alert of the latest environmental issues and eco-friendly trends.
