Dr. Arjette Karemaker is a Psychologist with an extensive academic background. Before joining AUD, Arjette spent ten years at the University of Oxford (United Kingdom), where she conducted a number of large-scale evaluations of early childhood initiatives and Randomized Controlled Trials.
Arjette worked on many projects such as the Evaluation of the Graduate Leader Fund (GLF), a major national study led by Professor Sylva and Dr. Mathers. She worked on a Nuffield Foundation grant and explored the relationships between different quality measures used to assess early years education in England. She also worked with Professor Sylva on the SPOKES project funded by the Education Endowment Fund (EEF). For this project she led the child assessment component of the grant. Furthermore, she simultaneously co-investigated with Professors Murphy and Sylva an intervention study funded by the John Fell fund and was appointed Principal Investigator on a literature review and experimental e-book trial funded by the Oxford University Press (OUP).
Arjette’s areas of research expertise are Developmental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Education, Research Methods and Statistics. She has broad research interests in 1) reading development and acquisition; 2) evaluations of interventions designed to enhance children’s development; 3) the role technology can play in children’s learning; 4) Randomized Controlled Trials; and 5) the quality of early education and its effects on child development, early language development and professional development.
Arjette attended and presented at many National and International conferences and published in peer-reviewed Psychology journals. She is a Graduate Member and Developmental Psychology section member of the British Psychology Society. In her free
