AUD AT HARVARD

Harvard College in Asia Program (HCAP)

A delegation of students were selected from the American University in Dubai to take part in the Harvard University Conference in Cambridge (HCAP), Massachusetts. AUD is only university from the Middle East region participating in HCAP for the 8th year.

 

The three-day event was attended by students from Turkey, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, India, South Korea and Thailand. During the conference, groups of student teams were formed and research was conducted on the difficulties facing higher education in these countries.

 

The delegation was led by Youssef Aboutaleb, he mentioned that his group presented research on the impact of mental health on the achievement of education at the university level. Other students participating are: Milania Hanna, Heena Tahiliani, Hareer Hashim, Sejal Dawar, Soumia El Mourabit, and Liana Abou Zaki.

 

The students’ delegation was hosted in Harvard University students' homes. They visited the city's museums, archeological, cultural and artistic sites. Youssef stressed the importance of the conference in enhancing cooperation and acquaintance among students from participating countries, and exchanging ideas and opinions on global events.

The American University in Dubai will receive a delegation of Harvard University students in March and will include 12 students to learn about the UAE's cultural progress in addition to holding a symposium between the students of the two universities to discuss the future of higher education in the Middle East and the role of technology and learning in that landscape.  The delegation thanked the university administration for empowering students to participate in international events to develop their leadership skills, build their international network, and enhance their cultural sensitivity.
