AUD students win SIBF Competition
AUD students from the MBRSC receive six awards in the 37th Sharjah International Book Fair

Students of the Mohammed Bin Rashid School for Communication (MBRSC) at the American University in Dubai won the "Best Press Release" award at the 37th edition of Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF). The SIBF was held between October 31 and November 10 where six of the ten winners were AUD students.

The winners are: Rand Dalati, Rahaf Jumbi, Yasmin Al-Samarrai, Hala Haj Talib, Hanan Al-Kebt and Reem Qurmli.

The competition is designed to invite university students to attend the exhibition, which is led by a mix of Arab and non-Arab writers, and submit a literary piece for the competition. The literary piece can be written in either Arabic or English.

The total number of entries submitted for the competition exceeded 50 participants from the students of Sharjah University, American University of Sharjah, UAE University, Khalifa University, among others.

The winners of the competition received a laptop and a certificate of appreciation from the Sharjah Book Authority at the awards ceremony.

The winning students from MBRSC praised their professor Dr. Musa Barhoumah for his efforts in enriching their journalistic writing through his daily guidance and motivation. Barhoumah said that the SIBF competition "has become an exciting competition for students who eagerly wait year after year for an initiative of this caliber and rigor to challenge their advanced journalistic skills through daily event reporting."

HE Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority, announced that the last edition of the exhibition witnessed over 2 million people visitors. The exhibition was inaugurated in 1982 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

He said that this project honors culture and defines the world in Arab and international civilization through the confluence of civilization and humanity in Sharjah.
