AUDMUN hosts conference
12/11/2018
Between November 1-3, 2018, the American University in Dubai opened its doors to 800 students from 35 high schools, including one from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabi, and 10 local universities to participate in the annual AUD Model United Nations Conference. The conference is a United Nations simulation where participating students serve as delegates to assigned countries where they discuss pressing international challenges and propose resolutions that address them. Through these mock simulations, students are further exposed to how the United Nations functions and the various policies that govern their decisions.

The conference hosted Dr. Sabrina Joseph, Dean of Arts and Sciences in the American University in Dubai, and Ms. Annina Mattson, Director of Programs at Dubai Cares, as their keynote speakers.

Over the intensive three-day conference, AUDMUN explored a myriad of stimulating and pressing issues, such as: Ethnic Cleansing in Myanmar, North Korea and Nuclear Security in Northeast Asia, Resolving the Status of the Remaining Non-self-Governing Territories, Privatization of Space, Empowering Rural Women through SDG's, Sexual Abuse and Exploitation in the Workplace, Abuses Against Women and Children in Areas of Armed Conflict, Libyan Slave Trade.
