Winners of MBRSC Competition Announced
MBRSC announces winners of the 2nd “Investigative Journalism and Short Film” Competition at the 2018 Arab Media Forum

The American University in Dubai proudly announced the 14 high school student winners of its 2nd annual “Investigative Journalism” and  “Short Film” competition at the 17th Arab Media Forum. The competition is an initiative launched by the Mohammad Bin Rashid School of Communication (MBRSC) aimed at fostering interest in the media industry among the region’s youth.

First prize winner of each competition was awarded to Maya Dermonsh and to Taima Osama Al Ali who received a full scholarship to study at the MBRSC. The awards were presented by H.E. Mona Al Marri, Director General of the Government of Dubai Media Office, Lance De Masi, President of the American University in Dubai, Ali Jaber, Dean of the MBRSC, and Mr. Nader Makenzi, Media Counsellor at the American University in Dubai. The remaining winners were offered recognition prizes from the MBRSC.
The competition was developed with the Dubai Press Club, Al Bayan News, Gulf News, Al Khaleej, and Al Khaleej Times. Further support came from the sponsors of the competition, Emirates NBD and Paris Gallery.
A special panel discussion at the Arab Media Forum was hosted by the Dean of the MBRSC, Ali Jaber, who discussed the impact of social media platforms on journalism and their legitimacy as a credible news source.
