AUD students join mentor-guided volunteering opportunity offered by The Harvard Club in UAE
The Harvard Crossroads Conference is an exciting annual event that brings together a distinguished network of professionals, topflight corporate executives and HBS Alumni joining from various industry sectors to share thoughts and exchange perspectives on economy and the direction of business. Fifteen undergraduate students from AUD were selected this year to join the organizing committee of The 6th Annual Crossroads Conference of The Harvard Business School to support with their time, talent and good efforts delivering a successful conference to Harvard Alumni and guest-attendees.
The conference that was held on Thursday March 22nd, 2018 at Waldorf Astoria, Dubai Palm Jumeirah, offered the students a mentor-guided work experience that helped shape their professional mindset whilst providing access to hands-on knowledge through practical experience about process dynamics, system setup, the procedures observed and protocols maintained while organizing a conference on a large-scale.
Hallmarks of the conference: His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Cabinet Member and Minister of Tolerance, acknowledging efforts of AUD volunteering Team. Mr. Goulam Amarsy, President of The Harvard Business School Club of the GCC – UAE, surrounded by AUD Students and Organizing Committee in a group session. Mr. Tariq Qureishy, CEO and Founder at MAD Talks, meeting a group of AUD Students before ending the day with his closing session “Thriving in the Future: Building Walls … Smashing Barriers!

And a big thank-you to AUD MBA Alumna Rena Makkawy (Director - Volunteer Engagement Program, Harvard Crossroads), Professor Dr. Assaad Farah (Associate Dean, Business Administration School) and Mrs. Afsana Amarsy (Chair of Conference Organizing Committee) for putting together such a wonderful third-year collaboration between The Harvard Club of the GCC in UAE and The American University in Dubai.
