01/04/2018

The American University in Dubai has partnered with the STEP Group 2018 STEP Conference, the region’s most experiential festival featuring tech, start-ups, SMEs and everything digital. The conference took place over March 28 and 29 at three different venues presenting lectures, workshops and activation booths for four focused conferences including STEP Start for start-ups, STEP Digital for advertising, content and media; STEP X for innovative and future technologies; and STEP Money for financial technology.

The conference kicked off with a panel discussion including STEP Group founder Ray Dargham, AUD founder Elias Bou Saab, and DIC Executive Director Ammar Al Malik discussing the importance of the conference for inspiring the next generation of youth as well as predicting the future of pedagogy for schools and universities. Dr. Hoballah commented that the educational system requires a complete transformation where the university becomes an “innovative learning and experimentation space of the future.” Mr. Elias Bou Saab and Provost Dr. Imad Hoballah both agreed on the importance of the STEP Conference in exposing students to a diverse community made up by some of the region’s most influential and innovative thinkers inspiring the young minds of the AUD and surrounding community to connect and exchange ideas.

The STEP conference’s strategic position within DIC, home to the regions tech giants and driving forces behind Dubai’s Strategy for Innovation, coupled with the sprouting young minds of AUD created a nurturing environment for innovation as well as the buddings of a new partnership.
