The Mohammad Bin Rashid School for Communication chaired a press conference on Wednesday, June 7th, to announce the launch of the Master of Arts in Leadership and Innovation in Contemporary Media (MALICM), calling on interested individuals to apply.

The two year program aims to engage media professionals to a better understanding of the current and ever evolving digital media landscape, bridging theoretical and scientific content such as data analytics with case studies to learn about the successes and strengths of digitally native companies.

The Dean of the Mohammad Bin Rashid School for Communication Mr. Ali Jaber, addressed the audience of press, alumni and prospective M.A. students saying: “The media industry is witnessing constant and unprecedented changes in the way we consume, understand and create content. This degree will allow media professionals to gain a thorough and in depth understanding of the current industry needs, as well as impart insights for students to be at the forefront of future digital disruptions. The Master of Arts in Leadership and Innovation in Contemporary Media will also develop leadership and decision making skills on a higher management strategic level, specific to the contemporary media landscape”.

Dr. Pedro Sellos, Program Director for the MALICM discussed the mission and course content of the program, outlining the four main areas necessary to becoming a media industry leader that are defined in the M.A.:

  • Unravelling the digital audience, data analytics and branding in the digital age.
  • Developing management and leadership skills to create and lead company and media strategies in a constantly evolving industry.
  • Taking part in an entrepreneurship lab, focusing on developing solutions based on current industry challenges. Students will develop their innovation skills and create digital prototypes for companies or start ups.
