Peace Art in Dubai
Online exhibition of artwork for Peace by MEST 329 - Islamic Art and Architecture AUD students

Dr. Pamela Chrabieh, Assistant Professor of Middle Eastern Studies at AUD has launched the 3rd Edition – November/December 2015 of the Peace Art in Dubai blog, an online exhibition of artwork for Peace by AUD students in MEST 329 - Islamic Art and Architecture.

It isn't enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn't enough to believe in it. One must work at it” – Eleanor Roosevelt.
Dr. Pamela Chrabieh explains, “Producing art for peace is one of the many ways to be 'working at it'. And I do rely on the arts as platforms for social innovation and peace education in all my courses, in order to inspire hope and build bridges across cultures/religions.”
The blog's goals are 1) to provide a forum for AUD students and artists in Dubai and the UAE in which the arts are used to express their perceptions of social-political issues affecting their communities, and their shared human interests in peace;
2) to create a space in which young individuals from different backgrounds can acknowledge difference and advocate creative, nonviolent conflict resolution by engaging with each other and their audiences; and
3) this intercultural/interreligious exchange of artistic ideas aims at fostering new aesthetic directions and endeavors, while renewing individual and collective commitments to peace.
