AUD Team Wins Unilever IdeaTrophy – Second Edition!

A team of students from the American University in Dubai (AUD) won Unilever's 2nd edition of IdeaTrophy challenge in the UAE. AUD team "Blue Dots" comprising of Henna Mohnani, Prakarti Lakhwani, and Varunya Venkatesh, lifted the trophy, and were awarded a direct entry into the company’s summer internship for 2013, and individual iPad 3 gadgets. The team cleared the three previous phases progressing from one of the top 20 to the top 5 teams, and gave their winning presentation during the final camp on 20 December, 2012, at Westin hotel, Dubai. "It was a truly unforgettable, exciting, and blessed moment when we were announced the winners of the IdeaTrophy. It is true that hard work never fails, especially when you have the best team" says Varunya Venkatesh, a fellow Blue Dot.

The IdeaTrophy competition is a global Unilever initiative with different chapters around the world. It provides senior level students with the opportunity to create a business strategy that will deliver the requested results. This year, the students were asked to develop a business strategy around Lipton Chai Latte. Participating teams of The IdeaTrophy competition has had to go through four phases including; idea generation and online submission, business and implementation plan submission, execution and presentations during the Grand Finale phase.

Prakarti Lakhwani, another Blue Dot adds: "Unilever’s marketing competition is one of its kind, and the caliber of such a competition cannot be underestimated. Despite the grueling schedules, and insane amount of work, I am proud that we made it to the top 3 teams, let alone lifting the trophy. It was truly ecstatic!"

Henna Mohnani, team leader of the winning team Blue Dots, concluded: "The Unilever IdeaTrophy was an extremely exciting challenge that helped us put the theory we study in class, to practice. It is definitely an experience of a lifetime and one that can never be forgotten. We are extremely thankful to Unilever for this opportunity and hope that we have more events like this one which would help us students prepare for the real work world."
