AUD Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony

The AUD Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony is an annual AUD event held in the spring of each academic year. The Awards Ceremony recognizes students who have strongly contributed to and brought glory to AUD through athletics, club activities, community service, leadership, and academics. The ceremony is scheduled in the spring with a gala dinner following the ceremony. There are two categories of awards: those nominated by the Administration, Faculty and Staff and those selected by the President.

 
Student Services Awards

Students who have strongly contributed and brought glory to AUD through athletics, club activities, community service, leadership and academics are honored every year at the AUD Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony.

 
Student Leadership Awards

These awards are presented to students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership on campus. This is a highly selective award only given to those students who have helped unite others, created and orchestrated activities/events, and/or emerged as leaders at the university.

 
Criteria for Nomination

Evidence of consistent, regular involvement in a campaign, community organization or on-campus volunteer experience and/or intensive and significant involvement for a particular project.

 
Student Government Awards

These awards are presented to any student, who through an active role in the SGA for the current academic year, has truly made a difference to university life.

 
Criteria for Nomination (by SGA Faculty Advisor/Coordinator of Student Activities)
  • SGA Officer or Representative for entire academic year Sept-August.
  • Active, year-round participation and interest in SGA affairs.
  • Attendance at all SGA events.
  • Received no warnings.
  • Required GPA.
  • Fulfillment of all position responsibilities.
 
Outstanding Student Organization

Awarded to the one student organization that met regularly during the course of the academic year, hosted at least two activities per semester, and had an agenda for development, officers, a faculty advisor and an organizational plan.

 
Criteria for Nomination
  • Evidence of two or more successful (planning, attendance, promotion) event per semester.
  • Regularly documented meetings
  • Consistent event reports
    • Organizational plan on file
    • Ongoing, visible presence at AUD
    • Elected Officers or Leadership Plan
    • Faculty Advisor in place
  • Marketing of club to student body at large with aim of attracting and involving new students throughout the year
  • Visible increase in student membership and involvement.
 
Outstanding Event of the Year

Awarded to the one student-created and executed activity that was the most successful as demonstrated by high attendance at the event and the fact that the event is created and orchestrated by students.

 
Criteria for Nomination
  • Event that had the highest student, faculty and/or staff turnout.
  • Surpassed all other events in semesters of student enthusiasm and entertainment.
  • Student created and orchestrated
  • Presented to the group of students who are involved in the event (a representative receives the award).
 
Outstanding Male Athlete

Awarded to the one male athlete who has excelled athletically, deemed to be the most valuable to the team and embodies the spirit of AUD Athletics (sportsmanship, citizenship, team work and understanding the spirit of the game).

 
Criteria for Nomination
  • Superior athletic ability
  • Motivation
  • Good sportsmanship and teamwork
  • Positive attitude
  • Commitment and dedication (attending practices and games)
  • Nomination by coach
  • Selected by Athletics Coordinator
 
Outstanding Female Athlete

Awarded to the one female athlete who has excelled athletically, deemed to be the most valuable to the team and embodies the spirit of AUD Athletics (sportsmanship, citizenship, team work and understanding the spirit of the game).

  • Superior athletic ability
  • Motivation
  • Good sportsmanship and teamwork
  • Positive attitude
  • Commitment and dedication (attending practices and games)
  • Nomination by coach
  • Selected by Athletics Coordinator
 
President's Award for Student Excellence

Awarded to a student who has excelled at AUD through academics and leadership as well as participation and involvement in several university activities. The selected student emulates AUD’s values and beliefs.

 
Criteria for Nomination
  • Academic excellence (GPA above 3.0)
  • Evidence of leadership and participation in several AUD activities, events, sports.
  • Community service
  • Service to the university
