The mission of the AUD Health Center is to provide general care and health supervision of all currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff and to promote the prevention of illness and the well being of students, staff, and faculty. |

| About the AUD Health Center | ||||||||
|
Minor cases are treated on the premises; students may be referred to health providers in the area for more serious problems requiring treatment that exceeds the AUD Health Center’s capabilities. The University Health Center also conducts blood tests for residence visas, for individuals sponsored by the university. The Health Center also provides health education programs for the University community on a regular basis. |

Students with medical problems or disabilities that require care or restrict their campus activities must submit a letter from their family physician describing their conditions, restrictions, and special requirements to the Health Center Director prior to joining the university. The goals of the Health Center are to provide accessible health care, and serve students needs on campus by encouraging wellness through health education. The Health Center maintains standard university practices of health services, and provides routine medical care for minor acute illnesses and injuries. The Health Center also strives to assist students in preventing absences due to health problems. |

| Partnership with the American Hospital in Dubai | ||||||||
|
The American Hospital in Dubai (AHD) works in partnership with AUD to provide health care and services conforming to American standards and practices. The Health Services Director is a registered nurse from the American Hospital in Dubai. The University Health Center refers students to this facility and others in the area. Special AUD student rates are offered at AHD. |

| Health History | ||||||||
|
AUD prides itself in offering quality health services. To maintain our standards and fully address the health and medical needs of our students, the AUD Health Center requires that all AUD students submit the Student Health History Form (available at the AUD Health Center) to the Health Center. This Form must be endorsed and stamped by a physician.
All health information is confidential. Only the following staff members have access (as needed): President, Executive Vice President, Dean of Student Services, and Housing Manager (for dorm students). All students medical records are kept under a locked filing system, and they are not released to others without the written consent (Authorization of Health Information Release) of the student or his/her parents. |

The AUD Health Center, located in Academic Building A, Room 116, is staffed by the Health Center Director, Mrs. Nelly Halabi, who is a Registered Nurse with a B.S. in Nursing and licensed by the Dubai Department of Health. She is assisted by two staff nurses from the American Hospital, who both hold B.S. degrees in Nursing and are also licensed by the Dubai Department of Health. The Health Center is equipped with an up-to-date examination room (treatment room), one infirmary (short stay) room, one observation room, and the reception office area. Two first aid rooms, located in both the Female and Male Dorms provide emergency treatment for dorm students after working hours. |

Health services are available 24 hours a day. The Health Center is open weekdays from 8.00 am – 9.30 pm. After working hours and during weekends, emergency health services are provided by staff nurses who reside on campus and are on call. AUD Hotline ext 555. During working hours students, faculty and staff can visit the AUD Health Center, or call the direct number: 04-318 32 00 or Ext. 200. The Health Center does not schedule appointments and all those seeking services can access the Center on a walk-in basis. |

| Emergencies | ||||||||
|
Emergency requests for Health Services are handled through the on call service. In the event of a serious emergency, after working hours, contact the UNIVERSITY HOTLINE 555, the security guard will inform the nurse on duty.
