AUD Health Insurance Plan for Students

Effective Fall 2008, Private Health Insurance covering care in the UAE is mandatory to all AUD students.
In order to meet this requirement by enrolling in the AUD-sponsored health insurance plan, students are charged a non-refundable AED 1,000 fee on their Fall semester bill covering the period September 1 through August 31.Students with valid current health insurance covering all of UAE may waive this fee (please see below).

Policies and Procedures
  • Students must collect their Insurance Cards from the Finance Department one week after Drop/Add period.
  • Medical visits and procedures will be reimbursed through medical claim forms.
  • Students permanently dismissed or graduating from AUD, before Spring semester, have the choice to apply for a refund after returning the card to the Finance Department.
  • Students joining within the academic year will be charged on pro-rata basis. The amount will be determined by the Insurance Company.
  • Fee for Blood Test for visa is not covered by the insurance. Students sponsored by AUD have to follow the pre-existing policy.

Please note that all reimbursement claims should have the following original documents completed:
  • Duly filled-in and Clear Medical Claim Form, signed and stamped by the treating doctor
  • Clear Medical ID copy (membership card) or Clear Pin Number
  • Original itemized invoices and receipts (doctor, hospital, lab, pharmacy)
  • Detailed medical report describing accurately the medical condition or the diagnosis and treatment received is clearly mentioned in the Medical Claim Form
  • Discharge summary for In-patient cases
  • Results of all diagnostic tests
  • Doctor's drug prescription
The above documents must be submitted to the company address not later than 90 days from date of treatment (or 90 days from date of admission for in-patient claims).

Direct Settlement Available when using the Medical card issued for In & Out- patient treatment inside UAE limited to the list of Nextcare providers attached. (Outside APN the claims will be settled on Cash -reimbursement basis)

Deletions Cancellation of member will be based on Pro-rata basis for those with total claims amount less than 75% of the premium amount
No refund applicable for deletion of members who have claims equal or above 75% of the premium
Cancellation Clause If the policyholder requests the cancellation, the premium refund due will be calculated on short period rates. No refund is due in respect to any member who (a) did not return his card, or (b) previously claimed under the policy.

Waiver of Fees

For this fee to be waived, students are required to provide evidence of currently valid private health insurance covering care in the UAE (Original Insurance Card, and the completed waiver form) to the Finance Office. Deadline to do so is the last day of the Fall semester Drop/Add (see AUD Academic Calendar).

Failure to provide this evidence before the deadline will result in cancellation of the option to waive the health insurance coverage and associated fee.
