For the highly competitive student athlete, who is interested in competing against universities from the UAE and elsewhere, AUD offers a number of intercollegiate sports teams.

| Soccer Three teams, one men's varsity, one for women and one junior team who represent the university in different tournaments and exhibition games. Junior varsity players are groomed to play on the varsity teams. |

AUD offers a number of intramural competitions designed to involve student non-athletes. All in the University community are encouraged to take part. Past intramural activities have included bowling, volleyball, 3 on 3 basketball, table tennis, water games, and tennis.
AUD Athletic Clubs are designed for AUD faculty, staff, alumni and students who wish to enjoy social interaction in a sporting environment. Clubs at AUD are organized and managed by students with the support of the Athletic Office. Students who have ideas for clubs must be ready to take on the challenge of building members and organizing play. Athletic clubs that have been organized in the past include the bowling club, the pool club, the women's cricket club, the martial arts club, the table-tennis club, and the rugby club.
