Ms. Oesleby has been involved with education for more than thirty years.
Fifteen of the last twenty years have been spent in the Arabian Gulf. Prior to joining AUD in the September 2005,
she was Associate Professor at Northern Michigan University (USA) as Head of Public Services for Olson Library.
Ms. Oesleby worked in Dubai from 1988 through 1996 and from 1998 through 2002. She is delighted to be back again
in Dubai as part of the AUD community.
Her professional experience includes both teaching (elementary, secondary,
special education, and university) and library (academic, public, and school) positions and consulting in Scotland,
Indonesia, Kuwait, Dubai, Hong Kong, Kyrgyzstan and the United States. Three of her previous positions involved
start-up library projects.
She has served on several Middle States Accreditation teams and on university
assessment committees, including AQIP Student Services Assessment, Administrative/Academic Outcomes Assessment, and
Institutional Effectiveness. She is co-chair of the Steering Committee for Arabian Gulf region ILN (Information
Literacy Network). She also serves on American Library Association/Association of College & Research Libraries committees.
In addition to graduating with both undergraduate and graduate honors, Ms Oesleby
was elected to Phi Beta Mu (library & information science) and Phi Alpha Theta (history).
She received the AUD President’s Award for Distinguished Service 2007-2008.
