General Questions :
 
If I graduated from an English speaking high school, do I need to submit a TOEFL or sit for the English Placement test at AUD?
The International TOEFL or the University's English Placement Exam is still required.
 
I did not do the International TOEFL and /or the SAT 1.  Can I take the University's English and Math Placement Exams?

You can substitute the International TOEFL and the SAT1 with respectively the university's English and Math placement exams.

* If you are applying for the Engineering Program, the SAT 1 and the University's Math Placement Exam are required.

 

Do I need to take the computer proficiency exam at AUD?

Only engineering students are required to sit for the computer exam.

 
Do you accept the IELTS?
We do not accept IELTS
 
When can I take the University Placement Exams?
Exam dates are scheduled and posted on the website. To view the entrance exam dates please click here .
 
If I apply and pay the reservation deposit, can I postpone my enrollment? What will happen to the non-refundable deposit paid?
You can postpone your enrollment to another semester and the deposit will be applied to the new semester. If you never attend the University, the deposit is non-refundable. However, the amount will remain on your account and applied towards tuition fees, should you decide to join at a later date.
 
When should I apply for the fall term? I am in my final year of high school, and I will graduate in May/June?

Early applications will be given priority for conditional acceptance. This offer will be extended as a result of achievements accomplished in your previous years, pending submission of all required documents upon graduation.

 
When is the deadline to submit my application?

If you are applying for the fall semester, the deadline is August 10 th .

If you are applying for the spring semester, the deadline is December 21 st .
 
Can I transfer my credits from AUD to another university?
AUD is recognized worldwide, accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in the United States and is recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the United Arab Emirates . Transfer policies differ between universities. Students need to check the transfer policy of the university they wish to transfer to and contact the university directly to make transfer arrangements.
 
If I apply today and I need a resident student visa, can AUD provide me with one?

Students who wish to obtain a residence visa from AUD should be accepted and enrolled full time. Visa processing begins one month before the start of each semester.

 
Can I work at the University while I study?
We have limited job offers available on campus. The "Careers Office" can provide you with leads and guidance to find part - time or promotional jobs while you are studying.
 
Do you provide any facilities regarding a visa, should I want to transfer to a university in the USA or Canada ?
AUD does not provide any facilities for visa arrangements to the USA , Canada or any other country. Students will need to contact the universities in those countries that they are interested in transferring to and apply for the visa on their own accord with the particular embassy of interest.
 
Do you accept the GED?

We do not accept the GED

 

Do you have housing accommodation on campus?

Housing accommodation is available with limited spaces. Students are recommended to pay for the dorms deposit upon admissions and should follow up with the housing manager for spaces availability.

 
How many letters of recommendation do I need?

Two letters of recommendation are required. They must be stamped by the students' secondary schools. In the case of transfer students, the stamp must be from their college/university.

 
When is the admissions office open?

Sunday to Thursday ::: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

 
Where is AUD located?

We are located on Sheikh Zayed Road next to Hard Rock Café, Media City and Internet City .

Transfer Students:
 

If I studied in an accredited college or university, what do you consider "official transcripts"?

Transcripts are considered official when they are received from the accredited college/university, in a sealed envelope.

 

I didn't go to an accredited college or university, but my transcript is recognized by my home country's Ministry of Education. What do you consider "official”?

Transcripts are considered official when they are stamped by the Ministry of Education of pertaining country.
 
Can my two letters of recommendation be from my high school, even though I studied in college / university?
Transfer students are required to submit letters of recommendation from their colleges /universities.
 
Regarding my two letters of recommendation, should the college / university mail them directly to AUD or can I bring them with me upon admissions?
Either is acceptable, as long as the two recommendation letters are stamped by the college/university.
 

I want to transfer into one of the undergraduate programs at AUD. Will all of my credits transfer ?

Transfer of credits is subject to evaluation. Students must provide AUD with official transcripts, course descriptions and in some cases their college/university profiles.

MBA Students:

 
What are the deadlines to submit applications ?
It is recommended that we receive your application at least two month prior to the start of the semester.
 
Do I need to take the International TOEFL ?

All students need to submit TOEFL scores. TOEFL may be waived in the following cases

1) If the student completed his undergraduate education at an accredited/recognized English medium institution, provided that there is evidence that the undergraduate institution has a TOEFL requirement of 500 or higher.

2) If the student is a native English speaker, who have completed their undergraduate education in an accredited/recognized English medium institution in a country where English is the official language.

 
When does the MBA committee meet?
  1. Fall semester: June 12 & August 14
  2. Spring semester: December 4
  3. Summer I term: February 12 & April 9
 
Do I need a GMAT?
MBA Applicants are required to submit a GMAT score.
 
When are the MBA classes held?
Classes are held in the evening. Each class meet once a week from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Intensive English Language Program(IELP):

 
How many levels of IELP are offered ?
We have five levels of IELP.
 

I don't speak English. Can I still join the IELP program ?

Yes .
 
How many hours of English instruction will I receive each week ?

Students attend classes four hours a day / five days per week.

 
How will my level of English be determined ?

This will be determined by our University English Placement exam.

 
Can I go to university once I complete the IELP Program?

Students who wish to seek a degree at AUD upon completion of the IELP program have to submit all the necessary documents for the Admissions Committee to review. In addition, students have to take the international TOEFL and score a minimum of 550 ( CAT 213) + TWE of 4.0 or take the Internet-based TOEFL and score a minimum of 79-80 + writing skills range 24-30.

Are scholarships available every semester ?

Scholarships are available only for the Fall semester of each academic year.

 

If I am a transfer student, am I allowed to apply for a scholarship ?

Scholarships are available only for new high school graduates.
