As Provost and Chief Academic Officer, I take great pride in AUD's remarkable and ongoing ascent as a premier institution of higher learning in the GCC region. I also have the privilege of leading AUD's continuing pursuit of academic excellence by working with the Deans, Program Chairs, faculty members, staff, students and other constituencies within and outside AUD.

At AUD, the central importance of excellence in teaching cannot be overstated. As a student-centered institution, we consider teaching to be every faculty member's calling and we view each faculty member as a unique and valuable resource for achieving student learning outcomes of the highest quality.

AUD has come of age. Reflecting on more than a decade of institution building, there is much for us to be proud of. Our University in past years has firmly established its presence and built its reputation in the UAE, the GCC region and beyond, as a provider of American higher education which considers excellence in teaching to be the centerpiece of its institutional mission, and whose primary focus is on helping students to develop holistically and on equipping them for lifelong success. More and more parents and students from near and far consider AUD as their university of first choice. Each year, AUD students in various academic programs have won top awards and prizes in local and international competitions. Provost and Chief Academic Officer

As the Chief Academic Officer of the American University in Dubai, the Provost is responsible for overseeing all aspects of academic affairs at the University. Working closely with the President, the primary mission of the Office of the Provost is to lead the development and supervise the implementation of academic strategies, policies and procedures whose purpose is to ensure the fullest achievement of the University's educational mission, goals and objectives. To this end, the Provost collaborates with the President and the Executive Vice President in allocating resources to the different academic units and academic support functions through the budgetary process.

The Provost oversees the appointment and promotion of all academic staff (Deans, Chairs, Directors, faculty members and academic support staff), chairs the Academic Council and the University Committee on Academic Standing, serves on the Administrative Council, and chairs or is a member of various standing and ad hoc committees whose work impacts academic life at the University.

The Provost also performs external outreach and representation functions that are aimed at building collaborative relationships and promoting the academic well-being and reputation of the University with the academic and professional communities and with government bodies, locally, regionally and internationally.
