Dr. Hicham Elzabadani earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in
Computer Science from the Lebanese American University, Beirut, in 2000 and 2002 respectively. He earned his Ph.D.
in Computer Engineering from the University of Florida in 2006.
Before joining AUD, Dr. Elzabadani was the VP for Industry Solutions at Pervasa, Inc., a University of Florida
start-up focused on platform and middleware products for sensor networks.
During his Ph.D. he worked on various projects, one of which is the Gator Tech Smart House, an experimental home
for applied pervasive computing research in the domain of elder care, which was featured in the Beyond Tomorrow
TV show.
Dr. Elzabadani filed for two patents during his stay in the USA: a “Multimedia Controller” (United States Patent
Application: 20050062637), and a “Modular Platform Enabling Heterogeneous Devices, Sensors and Actuators to
Integrate Automatically into Heterogeneous Networks” (International Publication Number: WO/2007/098468).
Dr. Elzabadani was awarded the second place at the Motorola Mobile Computing “Killer Apps” Competition in
December 2002. His research interests include Self Sensing Spaces, Remote Monitoring and Intervention, and Computer
