Professor Smaoui is a member of the Department of Finance and Accounting. Prior to joining AUD, he was working as a Financial Engineering Specialist at the Ministry of Finance in Canada . He was in charge of the optimization and the management of interest rate risk and exchange rate risk of the portfolio of the Government's debt service.
Professor Smaoui is currently involved in a number of research projects on the potential effects of privatization programs on the development of governance institutions and sovereign risk premiums of emerging markets. Professor Smaoui has presented papers in top finance conferences including: Doctoral Consortium of the European Financial Management Association ( Stockholm , 2006), Northern Finance Association ( Vancouver , 2005) and Academy of International Business ( Beijing , 2006). His research interests include: Privatization and Liberalization reforms, Corporate Governance, Derivative Securities and Islamic Finance. |
