Professor Banks has been a professional economist for nearly twenty-years, and has designed and implemented several national and local surveys in the Middle East. He has extensive experience in designing and implementing health care financing schemes, health insurance systems, and provider networks (to include hospital and physician networks). Professor Banks held the position of Assistant Professor of Public Policy, at the University of California at Berkeley , from 1991 to 1998. In 1995 he was awarded the prestigious Atlantic Fellowship in Public Policy, by the British Government.
He has published extensively, served on the editorial board of the Journal of Anti-Aging Medicine, and has served as a referee for several internationally renowned academic and policy journals. Professor Banks is the author of the book Health Care Reform , Institute of Governmental Studies Press, University of California at Berkeley , and is currently completing a book on implementing health care reform strategies in Emerging Markets, most notably those of the Middle East . Prior to arriving at AUD, Professor Banks was the Project Director of a major health care reform effort in Jordan, and for more than 8-years led in developing that country's system of national health accounts, rational drug use policies, hospital managerial reform, and hospital accreditation standards.
