Provost Awards

The Provost's Annual Awards for Faculty Accomplishments are granted to faculty members who have demonstrated excellence and creativity in their respective fields. Each year four winners of the Provost's Annual Awards are recognized for their outstanding work in the following entries: Innovation in Teaching, Outstanding Research, Creativity in Design and the Visual Arts, and Outstanding Literary Achievement.

The award winners are selected by a committee, which is chaired by the Provost, and consists of faculty members from the School of Business Administration, School of Engineering, Computer and Information Technology Program, Interior Design Program, Visual Communication Program, and Arts and Sciences.

The award categories are:

The Provost's Award for Innovation in Teaching

This award recognizes the development and use of an innovative methodology in teaching and learning, innovative redesign of an existing course, development of a new course or new material authored or created by the instructor, or adoption and use of a new technology or an innovative use of existing technology in teaching and learning.

The Provost's Award for Outstanding Research

This award category includes: research papers authored or coauthored by the faculty member, presented at refereed academic or professional conferences, workshops, symposiums, meetings of learned societies, or similar adjudicated events; research papers published or accepted for publication in refereed academic or professional journals; research published as a contribution to a compendium or reference work in the discipline or as a chapter in an edited book of readings; and, inventions, discoveries, new research techniques, or similar scientific accomplishments by the faculty member.

The Provost's Award for Creativity in Design and the Visual Arts

Examples include drawings, paintings, engravings, sculpture, photographic works, artistic illustrations, cartoons, typographic works, architectural designs, or other similar works.

The Provost's Award for Outstanding Literary Achievement

This award recognizes achievements in poetry, romance, spirituality, literary criticism, interpretation of literary works, social criticism, philosophy plays, biographies, and anthologies.
