Clinton Scholars from The American University in Dubai were hosted by the US Consul General Mr. Paul Sutphin and Mrs. Sutphin for an informal supper at their home. The Consul General warmly welcomed the students, and briefed them on a number of topics, including the vitality of the region, policy issues, the Foreign Service selection process, and opportunities for involvement with students from the UAE. American students had an opportunity to discuss UAE cultural issues with a local student who participated in this year's Summer Leadership Institute, which is funded by the Department of State. The MEPI program gives eight UAE national students the opportunity to study at renowned universities in the United States for six weeks in the summer. The Clinton Scholars are funded by the Clinton Presidential Foundation to study and expand their cultural and educational horizons at the American University in Dubai for one semester.
