Information Systems Security Assessment Framework (ISSAF) conferences are rapidly growing information security
conventions, and spreading all over the globe. These are free and open events organized by the Open Information Systems Security
Group (OISSG) to raise the level of information security awareness and to teach advanced security practices developed. This year’s
event was organized by the American University in Dubai in collaboration with OISSG, where local talents were invited to discuss
important topics in security considered critical to the Middle East and Gulf region.
One of the objectives of the conference hosted at AUD was to organize vendor neutral free conferences to discuss various
aspects of IT security with expert in the security domain.
'Many users these days are aware of their information being accessed by hackers. Protecting the user’s information is a
challenge that requires deep knowledge in security. Mastering the Information Security is one of the main goals that AUD is targeting
in the future. Students and professionals from IT, Engineering and Business backgrounds, who pursue their education in Masters of
Security would make them distinguished among other professional, and paving their career path toward the management ladder. In addition
attending the security conferences such as the one organized by OSSIG and AUD would make the security awareness program for organization
very fruitful,' said Dr Ghassan Kbar, Associate Professor of IT at the American University in Dubai and ISSAF Security Conference Organizer.
Mr. Balwant Rathore, President OISSG United Kingdom, and other key note speakers from local industries ‘ITButler’ and ‘Islamic
Bank of Abu Dhabi’, highlighted the importance of achieving ISO security standard, and educated the audience about the seriousness of
the latest attacks facing organizations and discussed the means by which to protect themsleves.
