The Health Center at the American University in Dubai (AUD) organized an Anti–Drug Awareness Campaign on campus. The campaign, which was planned by a group of AUD students as part of a class project and supervised by Nelly Halabi, Director of the Health Center at AUD, was attended by a large number of students. Major Dr. Juma Sultan Alshamsi from the Anti-Narcotic Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, Dubai Police conducted a presentation on the various dangers of drugs and answered various questions. Pamphlets were distributed to the students.
“Adolescence is a time when young generations like to experiment with new ideas and products. By focusing on such awareness programs, we enlighten the youth about the bad consequences of substance addiction, and offer them the different mechanisms that can help them refuse drugs,” added Nelly Halabi.
It is worth mentioning that the visit to AUD came as part of a schedule set by the Anti-Narcotic Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, Dubai Police which includes visiting various educational institutions across the Emirates to educate students about the various dangers of drugs. |
