The American University in Dubai has partnered with the Harvard College in Asia Program (HCAP) for the year 2007-2008.
The Harvard College in Asia Program (HCAP) was founded in October of 2003 at Harvard University; it is a student-run organization at Harvard College, serving as a platform for student exploration and development to strengthen the international relationships of tomorrow. Since 2003 Harvard students and students at premier Asian universities have been connecting through the many outstanding conferences.
As such, students from AUD, including the president of the Student Government Association, joined 5 other international universities from February 9th to 16th 2008 in Boston. This year's conference is themed "Building the Future: Urban Planning and Sustainable Development", and includes lectures and discussions with Harvard professors, excursions to sustainable development projects in the Boston area and student panel presentations.
The AUD students were housed with Harvard students in the dormitories in order to provide the greatest level of cultural immersion possible. Various cultural and social activities were also planned such as historic tours of Boston, art museums, a trip to Fenway Baseball Park, concerts, the Freedom Trail, and other locations in Cambridge – Boston.
For its part, AUD will be hosting 10 Harvard students from March 22nd to 30th 2008. The Harvard students will be joined by 10 other AUD students during a conference organized by the School of Business Administration, titled “Marketing Communications in the Middle East: Mirror for the Region - Window on the World”. Lectures and workshops are scheduled along with the submission of a final project by groups of both AUD and Harvard students.
