In light of the recent horrific events in Gaza, Palestine, the
Palestinian Culture Club at the American University in Dubai organized a peaceful protest gathering students, staff, faculty and the
media and in the presence of the Consul General of the State of Palestine in Dubai Mr. Saleem Abu Sultan, to show their support for
their fellow countrymen.
For the event, one child from the Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF) was invited to share her experience with the attendees;
she is part of the group of children who recently received special medical attention compliments of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al
Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE, ruler of Dubai.
Amin El Hajj vice President of the Palestinian Culture Club at AUD explained that “we meet today in support of the Palestinian
people. From this rostrum I would like to appeal in the name of all Palestinian expatriates to the international community, especially
to the United Nations, to lift the siege on our people and our brothers in Gaza, to stop the massacres of innocent children, women and
men, in the name of humanity; I appeal to all Palestinians, Hamas and Fatah partisans alike, we are all one people, let us all unite for
an independent Palestine”.
El Hajj went on to introduce Ghada from the PCRF, accompanied by her mother, and invited her to share her experience, testifying to
the tragic events in her home country and to her survival.
In the name of the Palestinian Culture Club, el Hajj thanked HH Sheikh Mohammad for his continues support to the Palestinian cause.
After thanking all for their support, students, staff and faculty, and the media, were left with one final note of hope, as the
Palestinian Culture Club wished the next gathering to be in the free independent state of Palestine.
