Nine graduating students of the Visual Communications Department at The American University in Dubai displayed some of their most creative work at Stuck in Traffic exhibition. The exhibition, which was launched on June 26, 2007 and runs until July 2, 2007, is taking place at Jam Jar Gallery, located in the Al Quoz area, Dubai . "Stuck in Traffic" features new works of art, ranging from mixed media and sculpture to installations that clearly express each student's individuality, creativity and skills, which have been built and enriched for four long years of theoretical and practical studies in Graphic Design, Photography and Creative Advertising.
Students who participated in the exhibition are: Nourah Al Ammary, Mohammad Helal Al Balooshi, Mohammed Al Matrooshi, Carine F Bouery, Renu Chandiramani, Julee Lee, Tamara Nieuwenhuijze, Anmol Pinto and Alzahra Sulaiman.
Roberto Lopardo, Chair of Visual Communication and Assistant Professor of Photography commented: "The exhibition "Stuck in Traffic" represents the thoughts and feelings of nine young and highly dynamic students who find themselves embedded in a society that exceedingly rewards individuals who embody acclimatization skills over the more implicit qualities associated with principle. The show's conceptual content revolves around the newfound pressures existing in a multicultural and multinational environment while still attempting to remain true to the core of the traditions that makes an individual unique and whole."
It is worth mentioning that the exhibition is open on Saturdays and Mondays through Thursdays from 10:00a.m. until 9:00p.m. and Fridays from 2:00p.m. until 9:00p.m.
