The Program of Interior Design invites applications for the position of Assistant or Associate professor of Interior Design - to begin in Fall 2008.
Ideally the successful candidate will have:
- A Master's degree in Interior Design, or Architecture; a Ph.D., NCIDQ certification and/or architectural license is preferred.
- Ability to work within a diverse student and faculty population
- Previous college level teaching experience and/or professional experience in Interior Design or Architecture
- Ability to teach both studio and lecture courses in a diverse Interior Design curriculum
- An expertise in one or more of the following is highly valued: interior Lighting, CAD mastery (including rendering programs) and Textiles.
The person appointed will be expected to foster interdisciplinary ties between Interior Design and Architecture.
The appointee will contribute to course delivery with primary responsibility in design studio and related theory, perhaps from an historical base. Candidates will be expected to instruct students on twentieth century developments in Interior Design, future trends and emerging areas of theory, practice and process. Additional teaching responsibilities in one or more of the following areas will depend on qualifications: communications, behavioral and environmental factors, and technology (materials, color, lighting, textiles and construction methods). Other duties will include academic advising. The candidate should hold a strong practice record and demonstrate accomplishment in teaching and creative work.
The compensation package for this position is competitive, and is based on the expatriate model. Besides tax-exempt basic salary, it includes housing, annual two-way airfare, health / life insurance, professional memberships, conference attendance expenses, assistance with children's tuition, and other components.
