The department of Liberal Arts at the American University in Dubai invites qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of English beginning in Fall 2008. Applicants should have significant experience teaching English courses that focus on critical thinking, research skills, classical argument, and literary interpretation. Specialists in only ESL or TESOL will not be considered for this position.

Ideally, the successful candidates will have:

• A PhD (an MA with extensive experience will be considered ) in Literature or Composition from a Western accredited university
• Previous teaching experience in literature and/or composition
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work in a team

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate English writing and humanities classes.

The compensation package for this position is competitive, and is based on the expatriate model.
